Flying to Thailand: routes, airports, documents
A beach holiday in Phuket, a trip to Bangkok and a journey to the north call for different routes. Look beyond the fare: compare the arrival airport, baggage allowance, local arrival date, connection time and refund rules. Schedules, nonstop flights and fares change with the season, so check your own dates in the search at the top of this page.
Nonstop or connecting
A nonstop flight is simpler: no gate to find and no connection to worry about. Check that the flight really has no stops, which airline operates it and whether baggage is included. Charter and scheduled tickets can have different change and refund rules.
A connecting flight gives you more choice of dates and cities. Compare the total journey time and the gap between flights. A single through-ticket protects your connection in a way that two separate tickets do not: if the first flight is late, the airline is not obliged to rebook a second ticket bought separately.
Search from a convenient departure city and compare routes through the major hubs: the Gulf, Istanbul and Asian connecting cities. Nonstop flights depend on your city and the season, coming and going over the year, so rely on a search for your actual date. From a regional city, it can pay to travel via another city on one ticket to your final Thai airport.
Long-haul flights from Russia, the CIS and Europe mostly land at Suvarnabhumi (BKK) or Phuket (HKT). Don Mueang (DMK) is Bangkok's second airport and mainly serves low-cost airlines. Most travellers reach Chiang Mai (CNX) on a domestic flight once they have entered Thailand.
From Europe
Compare nonstop flights from your city with routes via an international hub. Check the transit rules for your passport, especially with separate tickets, a terminal change or baggage to collect: the transit country's requirements can affect the whole trip.
- Phuket HKT: for a holiday on the island. On a connecting route, check where you will clear passport control.
- Suvarnabhumi BKK: Bangkok's main international airport. Check the airport code for any onward flight.
- Don Mueang DMK: Bangkok's second airport. A BKK–DMK connection means travelling across the city, not walking to the next gate.
- Chiang Mai CNX: for northern Thailand. If you enter the country at another airport first, passport control happens there.
Connecting within Thailand
Find out whether you need to collect and re-check your bags, clear passport control, move to another airport and check in again. Fast Track speeds up control but does not remove these steps or guarantee a short connection. For a complex route, ask the manager at which airport you need to be met.
Fares and airport crowds rise over public holidays, school breaks and peak holiday periods. Phuket's beach season runs roughly from November to April, with the busiest weeks from mid-December to mid-February, so search for winter dates early. If your dates are flexible, compare neighbouring days and the full trip cost: baggage, seat selection, an overnight connection and the transfer from the airport.
Check your ticket before paying
Make sure the Latin spelling of your name matches your passport, and check the date and time of every segment, the airports, baggage and fare rules. On an overnight flight, you may leave home on one date and land in Thailand on the next. Use the local Thai arrival date when booking an airport meeting.
Documents and TDAC
Check your passport and entry requirements, visa and transit rules, return or onward ticket and accommodation address. If you need a TDAC, complete it on the official website and save the confirmation. The details must match your documents and trip.
Money and mobile data
Plan how you will pay for the first few hours after landing and how you will get online. Proof-of-funds requirements on entry depend on your situation, so check them with official sources. Save your tickets, documents and the manager's contact where you can open them offline.
Book Fast Track in advance: choose the airport, arrival, service and local date, and add your flight number and passenger count. Standard gets you past the passport control queue, VIP adds luggage help and an escort to the exit, and the Suvarnabhumi shuttle car takes you by electric cart from the gate to the exit. See prices for rates.
Your meeting and flight delays
The manager confirms the meeting point and payment, and our staff follow your flight and any delay. If your flight number or date changes, message the manager on Telegram at @RUTVR. Fast Track speeds up airport formalities without skipping them: it cannot speed up baggage delivery or replace documents, and immigration makes the entry decision. For the trip home, there is departure Fast Track.
